Starting life at HNGi8
An interns perspective
So a few days ago, I was invited to the HNGi8 workspace via email. Was really looking towards it as I had recently completed the zuri training and I was looking for the opportunity to work with other developers again. Two days later, our first task rolled out which is why i’m writing this article.
What is HNG
HNG is a remote tech internship powered by Ingressive 4 Good. They focus on training software developers in 4 major tracks which are:
- Backend
- Frontend
- Mobile
- UI/UX

Ok back to my story
So two days later, Our first task dropped. Speaking of tasks, I’m supposed to tell you my goals for this internship and what I want to achieve at the end of 8 weeks. So here it is
I am a DevOps engineer coming from a backend developer background. I am proficient in Python and Javascript and kinda intermediate with Golang. My goals for this internship is to get hands-on experience working on real life Devops problems and become a professional DevOps engineer. At the end of the 8 weeks, I want to make it to the end of the program(and win that T-Shirt!!👕). Also I want to network with other professionals in the field and become a better DevOps or Site Reliability Engineer as a whole.
Ok…..my story. So the first task dropped(It’s this article by the way) and we were informed of the live DevOps exam that took place yesterday(which I passed🥳). I have been able to network with other DevOps engineers.
Anyways, I must say, so far the experience has been a nice one and I hope to make it to the end of the program✌️
